Alec Sheffield
Research Engineer
Alec is a Ph.D. student in computational neuroscience at Yale University studying the computational basis of natural vision. To do so, he utilizes a variety of machine-learning techniques to both process large amounts of neural data and model the underlying neural architecture. In the past he has worked at prestigious institutions such as Harvard Medical School and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and has publications in top-tier scientific journals such as Nature. Alec is excited about creating mutually beneficial interactions between the machine learning and neuroscience community, using inspiration from the brain to improve ML algorithms and in turn using ML to better model and understand the nervous system.
